Baggage basics
Baggage rules are set by the airline, and they vary by fare and route. Most tickets include a hand baggage (cabin) allowance; a checked bag may or may not be included, depending on your fare.
Each allowance has size and weight limits. Exceeding them can lead to fees at the airport, so check the limits for your booking and weigh your bags before you leave home.
If you need more baggage than your fare includes, adding it in advance is usually cheaper than at the airport. You can add bags during booking or, on many flights, later with the airline.
